Got Question?

We've answers

If your parent is turning 65, Medicare isn’t something to guess through. Deadlines matter, Medicare only covers 80% after the deductible, and plan choices vary by ZIP code. Join this free family webinar to get clear answers, avoid costly mistakes, and make confident decisions together — before it’s too late.

Does Medicare cover everything once I turn 65?

No. Original Medicare (Part A & Part B) does not cover 100% of your medical costs. After you meet the Part B deductible, Medicare typically pays 80% of approved services, and you are responsible for the remaining 20% — with no cap. That’s why many people explore additional coverage to reduce or eliminate that gap.

What’s the difference between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage?

A Medicare Supplement works with Original Medicare and helps pay the 20% that Medicare does not cover. You can generally see any doctor nationwide that accepts Medicare.

A Medicare Advantage plan replaces Original Medicare and often includes additional benefits like prescription drug coverage, dental, vision, and sometimes food or fitness benefits. Plans vary by ZIP code and provider network.

The right choice depends on health needs, budget, and doctor preferences.

When should my parent enroll in Medicare?

Most people enroll during their Initial Enrollment Period, which begins three months before their 65th birthday month, includes their birthday month, and continues three months after.

Missing enrollment deadlines can result in late penalties or delayed coverage — so timing is extremely important.

What if my parent is still working at 65?

If they are still working and covered under a credible employer group plan, they may be able to delay certain parts of Medicare without penalty. However, this depends on the size of the employer and the type of coverage. It’s important to review this carefully before declining Part B.

Do we have to figure this out alone?

No. Medicare is complicated, and it affects long-term financial and healthcare decisions. That’s exactly why I encourage adult children to attend with their parents. My role is to educate, compare options, and help families enroll correctly — at no cost for the consultation.
